Rockland honors student athletes

Rockland Middle/High School student athletes were honored earlier this month during two athletic awards banquets. The Modified and JV banquet was held June 3, with the Varsity banquet the following week on June 11.

The following awards were presented:

Fall

Varsity Football

  • Coaches Award: Patrick Gorr, Matthew Dutcher and Lydia DeVantier

Varsity Girls Soccer 

  • Most Valuable Player: Anastasia Niforatos

  • Coaches Award: Julia Meola

Scholar athlete awards

This award recognizes varsity teams where 75% or more of their members achieve an academic average of 90 or above. If a team does not meet the Scholar-Athlete Team Criteria, the individuals on that team with a 90 or above GPA are still eligible to receive a pin and will be

considered an Individual Scholar-Athlete.

  • Scholar Athlete teams are: Girls Soccer, Cheerleading, Girls Basketball, Girls Golf, Boys Track and Field, Girls Track and Field and Softball.

Coaches choice awards

These awards are voted on by the varsity coaching staff and go to the athletes who have made

an impression both on and off the field as individuals who represent themselves, their families, and the district in a manner in which reflect a positive example: Lydia DeVantie, Patrick Gorr , Alexandra Potosek, Marc Nieves, Cullen Hess and Alivia Garcia!

Athletes of the year

These awards are given to the male and female athlete of the year as selected by the varsity coaching staff and a point system which is determined by athletic awards and achievements received throughout the school year. This award recognizes representatives who have demonstrated to their coaching staff they are more than just good athletes; they are also team leaders who are reliable, possess a positive attitude, and are receptive to feedback: Anastasia

Niforatos and Benjamin Johnston.
