ParentSquare

ParentSquare is a communication platform that allows Rockland CSD to notify parents and staff of upcoming school events, emergency situations, closings and delays, etc. It provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, coaches, and parents to:

  • Send and receive school, class, team, and group information
  • Share classroom pictures and files
  • See calendar items
  • Sign up to volunteer, when applicable
  • And more!

Messages may be shared via phone call, text, email, and/or application notification.

  • Parents/guardians have received an email from ParentSquare to activate their account. Those who have not activated their accounts can sign up online using the email address they have on file with the school at ParentSquare or via the ParentSquare app, which is a free download for iOS and Android users.

    Parents/guardians who activate their account will be able to customize how and when they receive notifications, send direct messages to teachers and staff, receive messages via the app, and communicate in their preferred language.

    Parents/guardians who do not activate their account will still receive text, email, and phone call notifications.

    Invitations to activate ParentSquare were sent to the email addresses of parents/guardians the district has on file in its student management system, SchoolTool. If you did not receive a ParentSquare invite, it is possible the district has the wrong contact information on file. Please contact the main office of your student’s school building to correct the contact information on file.

  • One of the many benefits of activating a ParentSquare account is the ability to manage notification settings. Parents/guardians may choose when and how they receive ParentSquare notifications. Users can set their preferences to either Instant or Digest for email, text messages and the app. Instant users will receive a notification the minute a message is posted. Digest users will receive one daily notification at approximately 6 p.m. containing all messages posted that day.

    To manage notification settings in the ParentSquare app:

    1. Sign in to ParentSquare
    2. Click the triple bar on the top left corner
    3. Select “Account” on the menu on the left hand side
    4. Click on “Notifications” on the menu in the middle
    5. Choose how and when to be notified


    To manage notification settings on the ParentSquare website:

    1. Sign in to ParentSquare
    2. Click the drop down arrow next to your name on the upper right hand corner
    3. Select “Manage Account”
    4. Click “Notification Setting” on the menu on the left hand side
    5. Choose how and when to be notified


    Instant and Digest notifications apply to general announcements and messages such as school announcements, classroom communications, direct messages and reminders. In instances when the district or school needs to communicate an urgent message, a notification will be sent immediately, regardless of the user's preferences.

  • Support resources are available at any time. Users can click on the question mark on the upper right-hand corner of the ParentSquare website or click on the “Help” tab (click the triple bar on the top left corner) in the ParentSquare app.
